The Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad Agha Shahnawaz Babur has strictly directed the traders to sell edible commodities at the government fixed rates to avoid the official action. The DC on Sunday visited different market places in City, Qasimabad and Latifabad talukas of the district to monitor the implementation in sale of goods at the government rates.
He said that the government wants to ensure that the traders did not charge excessive price from the consumers as was complained during Ramazan every year. "The government is providing subsidised flour at the price of Rs230 per 10 kilogram and we also want to ensure that all the other edible items are sold on the approved rates," he added.
He directed the officials of the Food and Revenue Departments to ensure that the shopkeepers and vendors displayed the price list of the goods they sale asking them to take action against those flouting the law.
He said that trucks carrying the subsidised flour were setting up stalls in different areas of the city and as many as 25 different locations had been selected for that purpose.
"Each stall will sale between 800 to 900 bags of 10 kg per day," he informed. The Assistant Deputy Commissioner I Aijazul Hassan, Assistant Deputy Commissioner II Abid Saleem Qureshi, District Food Controller Masroor Siddiqui and other officials accompanied him.
