At least three persons were killed in separate incidents of violence in the metropolis here on Wednesday. According to police and rescue sources, a 30-year-old man was shot dead in C-1 Area, Liaqautabad No 2 in the limits of Super Market police station. SHO S. M. Raza said the deceased was identified as Muhammad Riaz Baloch, son of Rehmat, who was kidnapped by unidentified men. He was resident of Baloch Para, Shah Faisal colony, Orangi Town No 7.
He said the victim, who had no torture marks, was hit by a single bullet on his head. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy and later handed over to the heirs. He said the affiliation of the deceased was not confirmed while the case (121/12) was registered against unknown murderers on the complaint of his relative Aslam.
One Adnan, 30, son of Abdur Rehman, lost his life for refusal to pay extortion in Fatima Jinnah Colony in the limits of Jamsheed Qaurter police station. The deceased was assaulted at his cold drink shop, Ali Mama Cold Spot, by unidentified armed riders on Jamsheed Road No 2. Resultantly, he received multiple shots and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) where his family took his body away without legal formalities.
SHO Khushnood Javed said the victim, who used to run cold-drink business in PIB Colony and belonged to Memon community, might have been murdered by extortionists. But it is premature to say anything as investigation is underway, he added. No case was registered till filing of this report.
Another man, Kashif, son of Akbar Ali, was shot dead near Kalapul in the limits of Mehmoodabad police station. Police said the victim was intercepted by unknown armed riders near Kalapul when he was on the way to somewhere from his residence. Resultantly, he received fatal bullet wound on his upper torso and was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he took his last gasp. They said the deceased, who was the resident of Masoom Shah Colony, used to work at a private garments factory. The police suspected that he might have been murdered over personal ground as no political or religious affiliation has been confirmed so far.
