Fearing of disqualification: Vawda approaches SHC

KARACHI: Fearing of being disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) the Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda approached Sindh High Court (SHC) against ECP.
The high court bench granted Vawda's plea for an immediate hearing and it fixed the hearing of plea for tomorrow.
In his plea, PTI leader stated that Election Commission should be stopped from disqualification cases against him. He also sought an immediate restraining order. He challenged the ECP's February 24 decision.
The Election Commission rejected my application against the facts, Vawda said. The Election Commission has no authority to hear complaints against me, he said. I raised an objection which was rejected, Vawda said. Three complaints are registered with the Election Commission against the dual citizenship of Faisal Vawda.
Qadir Khan Mandokhel, Mian Muhammad Asif, and Khalid Javed have lodged complaints. The Election Commission has decided to hear complaints against Faisal Vawda. The court had rejected the objection raised by the PTI leader.
