ISLAMABAD: The national Covid-19 positivity ratio of Pakistan on Tuesday shot to 7.1 percent as the country reported 2,511 Covid-19 cases out of 35,303 tests conducted in last 24 hours.
According to National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), over the past 24 hours, Pakistan reported 58 Covid-19 deaths which took the national tally of Covid-19 fatalities to 13,595. Moreover, NCOC data also revealed 1,307 patients across the country were also recovered taking the national tally of recoveries to 573,014.
According to NCOC, at present, total Covid-19 active cases in Pakistan are 23,355 of which, 1,895 are in critical condition.
Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has 7.7 Covid-19 positivity ratio as over the past 24 hours, District Health Officer's (DHO) Islamabad office detected 414 cases by conducting 5,369 tests.
Out of 58 Covid-19 patients died during past 24 hours, 55 of them were under treatment in hospitals and three in quarantine or home. During the last 24 hours Punjab reported most deaths where 43 people lost their lives, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with 10 deaths most of the deaths. According to NCOC, 24 patients out of 58 lost their lives on ventilators.
At present, ICT with 46 percent ventilator occupancy on top followed by Lahore 34 percent, Multan 30 percent and Bahawalpur with 27 percent.
The maximum Oxygen beds (alternate oxygen providing facility other than ventilator administered as per medical requirement of Covid-19 patient) was also occupied in four major areas of Gujrat 66 percent, Peshawar 46 percent, ICT 38 percent and Lahore 30 percent.
Around 258 ventilators were occupied elsewhere in the country while no Covid-19 affected person was on ventilator in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Balochistan.
Out of total 35,303 Covid-19 tests conducted across the country over the past 24 hours, 8,511 tests were conducted in Sindh, 13,727 in Punjab, 6,205 in KP, 5,369 in ICT, 398 in Balochistan, 377 in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and 716 in AJK.
Since the pandemic outbreak, a total of 609,964 coronavirus cases were detected in Pakistan including deaths, recovered and under treatment. As per NCOC data Sindh with 261,582 cases is on top, followed by Punjab with 188,225 cases, KP with 76,379 cases, ICT with 48,495 cases, Balochistan with 19,233 cases, AJK with 11,089 cases and GB with 4,961 cases.
Out of 13,595 deaths recorded in country since the pandemic outbreak Punjab with 5,812 is top, followed by Sindh with 4,461 deaths of which three died in past 24 hours, KP with 2,169 deaths, ICT with 526 deaths, AJK with 322 deaths, Balochistan with 202 deaths and GB with 103 deaths.
Moreover, following the start of third Covid-19 wave federal government as well as provincial and district authorities have taken fresh steps to contain the spread of virus which include imposition of lockdown, closure of educational institution, early closure of markets, shutting down shrines, cinemas, banning indoor wedding events, early closure of offices and others.
