ISLAMABAD: Pakistan, Thursday, reported 98 Covid-19 deaths and 4,974 new coronavirus cases taking the death tally to 14,530, and Covid-19 cases tally to 672,931, since the pandemic outbreak in February 2020.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), on Wednesday Pakistan for the first time conducted over 50,000 tests since outbreak of the Covid-19 in the country. Countrywide a total 50,055 tests were conducted including 9,634 in Sindh, 22,624 in Punjab, 8,672 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), 7,564 in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 367 in Balochistan, 312 in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), and 882 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The national positivity ratio has fallen below 10 percent and stands at 9.9 percent.

Over the past 24 hours, 2,148 people have reported recovery from the Covid-19 and at present total active cases are recorded at 53,127, after inclusion of 4,974 new cases.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus in Pakistan, 605,274 people have recovered from the disease making it a significant count with over 97 percent recovery ratio of the affected patients.

Out of 98 deaths, 88 patients have died during treatment in various hospitals and 10 at their homes. Punjab and the KPK reported most deaths in the past 24 hours as 62 deaths were reported in Punjab and 21 in the KPK.

Since the pandemic outbreak, Pakistan has detected a total of 672,931 cases, which also include the deaths, recovered and under treatment Covid-19 patients.

Sindh with 265,680 Covid-19 cases is on top followed by the Punjab with 223,181 cases, the KPK with 88,099 cases, the ICT with 58,557 cases, Balochistan with 19,576 cases, the AJK with 12,805 cases, and G-B with 5,033 cases.

Punjab with 6,427 Covid-19 deaths is on top, wherein, 62 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, 54 of them in hospitals and eight out of hospital, followed by Sindh with 4,502 Covid-19 deaths, five of them died in the past 24 hours, KPK with 2,363 deaths of which 21 died in the past 24 hours, the ICT with 572 deaths of which four died in the past 24 hours, the AJK 355 three of them succumbed to the deadly virus in the past 24 hours, Balochistan with 208, one of them died in the past 24 hours, and G-B 103 deaths.

The maximum ventilators were occupied in four major areas: Multan and Lahore with 67 percent are on top followed by the Islamabad Capital Territory with 64 percent and Gujranwala 60 percent.

The maximum Oxygen beds (alternate oxygen providing facility other than ventilator administered as per medical requirement of Covid patient) was also occupied in four major areas: Swat with 100 percent occupancy is on top followed by Gujranwala with 85 percent, Peshawar 84 percent, and Gujrat 74 percent.

Around 419 ventilators were occupied elsewhere in the country, while no Covid-affected person was on ventilator in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), and Balochistan.

A total of 10,247,374 corona tests have been conducted so far, while 631 hospitals are equipped with Covid facilities.

Some 3,901 corona patients were admitted in hospitals across the country.
