Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Transport and Information Mian Iftikhar Hussein said his government is making all-out efforts for an integrated transport plan for Peshawar with the help of Governments of Turkey and Argentina. His recent visit to Turkey enriched his vision for an integrated communication system both roads and railways.
His province has multifaceted challenges but we have the courage to overcome them with a clear vision we are working in the right direction. These remarks he made during an Iftar dinner by the Embassy of Argentina in Islamabad. Turkish Ambassa-dor, high ranking federal and provincial officials including Secretary Informa-tion and Secretary Transport were also present.
The Minister said we have a concept which is being fine tune with the help of Turkey and Argentina for our communication system which should ideologically have one channel command and underscore the need to overhaul the existing transport system. We have already invited a feasibility study from Turkey.
Simply we need expertise to remove the traffic hazards. We would also welcome the latest technology and rest assured what is better for the province they would go for that. He also offered his government support for the setting up of one CNG station equipped with the latest technology on experimental basis in Peshawar, the Minister will properly inaugurated. He said that evolving a transport system to give solution to all transport related problems would be a success story.
The Transport Minister was praising those nations who are integrating their people through practical steps, giving them the power of their resources, protecting their rights and giving preference to the local people to have their rights and resources first and use them and then the surplus should go to other areas where there is needed.
He said that the modern nations will get strength if the natural resources of the particular region or part of that country is in excess and it is allowed to use it and the surplus is then sell out to the national grid for onward distribution. It will end deprivation and will lead to national cohesion and integration. The Minister termed his visit to the Embassy of Argentina as a part of his mission to explore avenues of co-operation for the benefit of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Ambassador of Argentina Rodolfo Martin said that his people and government have special touches for the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. He will visit the province to further cement the ties. It is the beginning and it is our endeavour to help Pakistan in transport and this co-operation is for the benefit of the people.
