LAHORE: A banking court here Wednesday extended bail of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s leader Jahangir Khan Tareen and his son Ali Tareen and others in two FIRs lodged by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in wake of the sugar scandal till April 10.

Tareen after appearing before the court talk to the newspersons and said his loyalty to the party was being tested despite his year-long silence over the sugar inquiry.

He said it was a high time that Prime Minister Imran Khan, party’s loyal leaders and voters needed to expose the conspirators.

Tareen said he was and would remain with PTI and added, “I cannot even think to part my ways from the party,”.

Tareen also said “I wanted the PTI to answer his questions”.

He also rejected the rumour about his plan to meet former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Tareen commenting on the cases said, “I was a friend. Why am I being pushed towards enmity?”

He also wondered over the freezing of his and his son’s bank accounts at the very initial stage of the cases. He reiterated his complaint of being targeted out of over 80 sugar mills.

Several MNAs and MPAs of PTI including Raja Riaz, provincial minister Nauman Langrial, Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Nazir Baloch, Suleman Naeem, Khurram Leghari, Aslam Bharwana, Ameer Muhammad Khan and Tahir Randhawa also accompanied Tareen to the court to express solidarity with him.

Raja Riaz, a PTI’s MNA from Faisalabad, said the people around the prime minister had been hatching conspiracies against Tareen. He urged the prime minister to take notice of the conspiracies.
