KARACHI: SITE Limited and SITE Association of Industry (SAI) have agreed to adopt a joint strategy and take measures with mutual consent to resolve infrastructure issues of SITE area - the oldest and the largest industrial area of Pakistan.

During a visit to SAI, newly appointed MD of SITE Limited Shahzad Fazal Abbasi assured industrialists of cooperation on his behalf and said he will try to resolve issues being faced by industries of the area on priority basis.

However, it will need some time to improve working of SITE Limited and make it an exemplary institution and changes / improvements in SITE area will be noticed soon.

The MD agreed to earmark a dumping point in SITE area for the solid waste. A system will also be devised for solid waste management on permanent basis. In addition, cleaning of area and roads repair work will also be started soon.

Taking notice of delays in processing matters / files of industries, Shahzad Fazal Abbasi assured to look into the complaint and expedite the same. Zubair Motiwala, Patron-in-Chief of SITE Association, said SITE Limited should play its due role in resolving issues of the area. About two decades ago, SITE Limited was an example for other institutions but today, it is standing at the verge of collapse.

He expressed the hope that Shahzad Fazal Abbasi would be able to make SITE Limited a good example to attract new investment in the area and avert shifting of existing industries to other industrial zones.

SITE president Abdul Hadi said at this time, we need a joint strategy to resolve issue of SITE area and expedite provision of services to industries. We want to establish a strong liaison with SITE Limited to give some relief to the industries of the area.

He also mentioned that exorbitant non-utilization charges (NUF) are being charged from the industrialists and requested to correct such bills.
