KARACHI: An online meeting of 4th Session of Pakistan-Belarus Joint Business Council was held virtually via Zoom Link on April 12th. This webinar was conducted by IMDD-I of TDAP, Karachi in collaboration with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), and Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI). The presentation on increasing potential of trade between Pakistan and Belarus was given by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.

In this session, Sajjad Haider Khan, the Ambassador of Pakistan at Minsk also participated along with Andrei Metelitsa, the Ambassador of Belarus in Pakistan, and Viktor Karankevich, Belarus Minister for Power. However, more than 90 participants from both countries participated in the meeting including top business persons, experts and representatives of chamber of commerce and industries from both the countries.

During the webinar, the experts apprised the participants of the huge trade potential that is yet to be capitalized between Pakistan and Belarus.

The speakers also emphasized upon increasing bilateral coordination and cooperation between both countries in the field of education, culture, tourism, medicine, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, and investment in telecom services, agriculture, textiles, energy, infrastructure, industry, and household appliances for strengthening the friendly relations between the two nations for greater economic relations.

It was emphasized to make joint ventures in engineering, textiles, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and other prominent sectors of both the countries in order to enhance bilateral trade. It was agreed to bolster Pakistan-Belarus relations with the focus on cultural cooperation and decided to come up with a series of activities on this front through online meetings like this webinar till the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, it was acknowledged that the interregional cooperation is also necessary for improving trade balance of both the countries.

For this purpose, it was emphasized to make B2B meetings between business communities of the two countries after this webinar for increasing bilateral trade between the two countries.—PR
