ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approved a corruption inquiry against senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and others.
A NAB official said that the decision to this effect was taken in the Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of the NAB presided over by the NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal.
The bureau approved 10 inquiries during the meeting, he said.
He said that the meeting also approved corruption inquiries against Saad Rafique, and officers and officials of Pakistan Railways and others, Muzaffar Ali Ranjha, former Director General (DG) anti-corruption Punjab, Noorul Amin Mengal, former Deputy Commissioner (DC) Faisalabad, officers and officers of highways department Faisalabad, officers and officers of City District Government Faisalabad, M/s Reliable and others, Chaudhry Sher Ali, former mayor and former MNA Faisalabad, Muhammad Amin Chaudhry, former DC Faisalabad, Mian Anjum Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Suliman, Imran Sher Ali, FDA officers, officials and others, officers of Khawaja Farid University Rahim Yar Khan.
The meeting also approved inquires against officers and officials of the Punjab Education Foundation Vehari, Secretary Excise and Taxation, officers and officers of Excise and Taxation Department (ETO) Rahim Yar Khan, Management of United Ethanol Industries Sadiqabad and others, officers, officers C&W, officers and officers of the department and others, Livestock Department Multan officers/officers and others, Mehr Irshad Ahmad Khan MNA and others.
The EBM also approved investigation against Mansha group and others, he said.
He said that the EBM forwarded cases of Muhammad Yasin, former Tehsil Nazim, Ghazala Shaheen, daughter of Muhammad Yasin, former Member Provincial Assembly, Ghulam Murtaza, Azam Sohail, and others to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take further action as per law.
The meeting was also attended by Hussain Asghar, deputy chairman NAB, Syed Asghar Haider, prosecutor general accountability NAB, Zahir Shah, DG Operations NAB, and other senior officers attended the meeting.
