Sindh police on Tuesday claimed to have killed an alleged bandit and arrested his other accomplice in injured condition after brief encounter near Mehran Plaza in the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station. According to DSP Aziz Bhatti Nasir Lodhi, the incident took place at Block 15 of Gulshan Iqbal where policemen intercepted two alleged bandits when they were trying to escape with a sound system unassembled from a parked car near market.
Reacting on police action, these alleged bandits opened indiscriminate gunshots on policemen, who were deployed in market for security that claimed a life of a rickshaw driver Zarat Khan, 55. In police retaliation, both alleged bandits sustained bullet wounds and were shifted to nearby hospital where one of the dacoits, who was identified as Sher Muhamamd son of Abdul Ghani, succumbed to injuries.
DSP Nasir said they had recovered two TT pistol and unassembled sound system from the spot and added that both dacoits, who were Afghans, were the residents of Jamali Goth, Super Highway. He said the victim Rickshaw driver, who hailed from Manshera, was the resident of North Nazimabad and father of six.
