ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases of the fourth coronavirus wave with the highest positivity ratio as in the past 24 hours nationwide 5,661 coronavirus cases were reported with a positivity rate of 9.06 percent.

Last time the country reported 5,908 cases was on April 23, 2021.

The last time the country reported a similarly high positivity rate was on May 9, when it was recorded at 9.13 percent.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), over the past 24 hours countrywide 62,462 Covid-19 tests were conducted of which 5,661 returned positive taking the Covid-19 cases tally to 1,053,660.

The NCOC also reported 60 fatalities taking the nationwide death toll to 23,635.

Another 6,787 people have recovered from the coronavirus in Pakistan, taking the country's total to 952,616 with a recovery rate of 90.4 percent.

According to the NCOC, at present,4,050 coronavirus patients are in critical condition elsewhere in the country.

The NCOC latest Covid-19 data is showing a rapid increase in the number of daily cases and deaths, and active cases also were recorded at 77,409.

According to a province-wise breakdown, the total number of cases in Sindh has reached 392,433, in Punjab 360,494, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) 146,485, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 89,117, in Balochistan30,880, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 25,778, and in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) 8,473.

Punjab has reported 1,173 Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, which is the highest number of daily cases since May 19 when it reported 1,189 cases.

The total case tally in the province has jumped to 360,494.

The province also reported 18 more coronavirus deaths taking the provincial death toll to 11,122 since the pandemic outbreak.

Sindh reported 2,734 coronavirus cases and 29 deaths during the last 24 hours, taking the provincial Covid-19 infection tally to 392,433 and the death toll to 6,098.

The KPK recorded 623 coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, the highest in over two months as the province last reported more than 623 infections on May 9 with 642 Covid infections.

The KPK's Covid-19 tally has jumped to 146,485.

Moreover, the province also reported eight coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours taking the provincial death tally to 4,495.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir reported the highest daily rise in the Covid-19 cases of the ongoing year as over the past 24 hours,the AJK reported 477 new coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 25,778.

The AJK also reported two coronavirus deaths over the past 24 hours, taking the death tally to 636.

Balochistan reported 131 new Covid-19 cases taking the provincial tally to 30,880.

The province also reported one death over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 329.

The ICT reported 441 new coronavirus cases and one death over the past 24 hours, taking the cases tally to 89,117 and the death toll to 807.

Gilgit-Baltistan reported 82 cases and one death, taking the cases tally to 8,473 and the death toll to 148.

Over the past 24 hours 1,158,433 people were vaccinated taking the vaccinated tally to 34,204,053 since the drive was started in February 2021.

So far, Pakistan has fully vaccinated some 7,086,742 people, while 27,117,311 people are partially vaccinated.
