13 militants killed in airstrikes

At least 13 militants were killed when jet fighters attacked hideouts of rebels in north-western region, official said Saturday. The airstrikes targeted the Momazai area of Orakzai, one of seven tribal districts, where the military is trying to eliminate rebels linked to al Qaeda. A security official said at least four insurgent hideouts were destroyed in the attack that lasted for more than an hour.
"We have credible information that 13 militants who were present in the targeted area were killed," he said on condition of anonymity. He said ground forces dispatched to the area after the airstrikes retrieved arms and ammunition.
