Power shortfall reduced further to 3348MW with fresh spell of rain in the city. However, unannounced load shedding is yet the hallmark of the system, leaving the consumers at the mercy of power outages after every alternate hour. According to the Energy Management Cell (EMC), demand for power during last 24 hours stayed at 17738MW against the generation of 14390MW.
The consumers criticised the power authorities for their failure in ensuring uninterrupted power supply during Sehar and Iftar. Not only the domestic consumers, but the industrial consumers are also worried about the sad state of affairs even after Eid.
It may be noted that the government has withdrawn exemption from load shedding to the industrial sector during the holy month of Ramazan. The industry is facing six hours a day load shedding, closing down a complete shift and leaving substantial number of industrial workers jobless. However, the Prime Minister has assured of the businessmen to resume exemption after Eid.
