KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 106,216 tons of cargo comprising 83 109tons of import cargo and 23,107 tons of export cargo during last 24 hrs ending 0700 Hours.
Total import cargo of 83,109comprised of 11,380 tons of containerized cargo, 13,137 tons of bulk cargo, 2,920 tons of soyabeen seed,3,272 tons of sugar and 52,400 tons of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,107 tons comprised of 22,923 tons of containerized cargo and 184 tons of bulk cargo.
As many as 2,848 containers comprising of 769 containers import and 2,079 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 203 of 20's and 280 of 40's loaded while 00 of 20's and 03 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 231 of 20's and 280 of 40's loaded containers while 306 of 20's and 83 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 221,845 tonnes comprising 175,588 tonnes of import cargo and 46,257 tonnes of export cargo including 4,634 loaded and empty containers (2,607 TEUs imports and 2,029 TEUs export) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
The total import cargo of 175,588 tonnes includes 46,014 tonnes of coal; 4,600 tonnes of palm oil; 19,039 tonnes of gas oil; 49,495 tonnes of containerized cargo; 38,068 tonnes of LNG; 14,043 tonnes of soya bean; 1,467 tonnes of project cargo; 2,362 tonnes of LPG and 500 tonnes of phosphoric acid.
The total export cargo of 46,257 tonnes includes 38,551 tonnes of containerized cargo and 7,706 tonnes of rice.
There are eighteen ships currently at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim and waiting for berths; out of them five ships, SSI Conquest, New Destiny, Yi Long Shan, Zircon, , Chemtrans Arctic and three more ships Maersk Denver, MSC Nomi and Xpress Bradsay carrying steel coil, coal, palm oil, gas oil and containers are expected to take berths at MW-2, PIBT, PQEPT, LCT, FOTCO and QICT respectively on Tuesday (today),10th AUGUST 2021.
