KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 161,163 tonnes of cargo comprising 131,700 tonnes of import cargo and 29,463 tonnes of export cargo during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 131,700 tonnes comprised of 26,650 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,754 tonnes of BULK CARGO; 468 tonnes of Ammonium Intrate Emulsion; 13,442 tonnes of DAP; 12,645 tonnes of Pet Coke; 5,413 tonnes of sugar and 70,328 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 29,463 tonnes comprised of 28,506 tonnes of containerised cargo; 157 tonnes of bulk cargo and 800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,536 containers comprising of 1,881 containers of import and 5,655 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 503 of 20's and 689 of 40's loaded while 00 of 20's and 00 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 810 of 20's and 268 of 40's loaded containers while 331 of 20's and 1,989 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six vessels Gulf Star, Cosco Haifa, DM Jade, Sunrise,CS Future, and Kaimon Galaxy carrying containers, tankers and general cargo currently at the berths.
There were ten ships namely Mohar, Gemini, Glory Navigator, California Trader, Hanne Danica, Diyala, Sea King, Syra, Leo Paramount and Karema sailed out to sea during the reported period. Three ships MT Shalmar, Cosco Haifa and Xin Qing Dao expected to sail on 24-08-2021.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 248,374 tonnes comprising of 203,249 tonnes of import cargo and 45,125 tonnes of export cargo including 5,675 loaded and empty containers (3,767 TEUs imports and 1,908 export), was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 203,249 tonnes includes 71,573 tonnes of containerised cargo; 70,843 tonnes of coal; 36,250 tonnes of LNG; 379 tonnes of furnace oil; 10,900 tonnes of palm oil; 3,304 tonnes of soy bean and 10,000 tonnes of Mogas.
The total export cargo of 45,125 tonnes includes 36,252 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,000 tonnes of rice and 1,873 tonnes of bitumen.
There are twenty two ships currently at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim and waiting for berths; out of them three ships, Nord MMissisipi, Al-Deebai and MSC Ellen and another ship Maersk Kingston carrying containers, coal and natural gas are expected to take berths at PIBT, EETL and QICT respectively on Tuesday 24th August 2021.
