KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 341,175 tonnes of cargo comprising 270,379 tonnes of import cargo and 70,796 tonnes of export cargo during last 48 hours ending on Monday.

The total import cargo of 270,379 comprised of 132,818 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 1,511 Tons of Bulk Cargo, 5,880 tonnes of DAP, 2,127 tonnes of Palm Kernel Expeller and 128,043 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 70,796 tonnes comprised of 48,036 tonnes of containerized cargo and 22,760 tonnes of Clinkers.

As many 11173 containers comprising of 6341 containers import and 4832 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 1623 of 20's and 2299 of 40's loaded while 00 of 20's and 60 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 526 of 20's and 815 of 40's loaded containers while 1068 of 20's and 804 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Nearly, 11 chips namely, Galaxy Ace, Glen Canyon, Songa Iridum, Demeter, Hanyu camellia, Dalian Express, Hyundai Shanghai, Ever Ursula, Cornelia I, Sc Petrel, Onxy I have berth at Karachi Port on Monday.

Approximately, 09 ships namely, Merry Star, COntship Lex, Chemroute Oasis, Galaxy Ace, Clemens Schulte, Songa Iridium, Glen Canyon, Dalian Express, Hyundai Shanghai have sailed out from Karachi Port on the same day.

PORT QASIM

A total of eleven ships were engaged at PQA berths to load/offload Containers, General cargo, Coal, Rapeseeds, Chemicals, Gas oil and Palm oil, out of them, six ships, KSL Huayang, Torm Republic, IVS Atsugi, Chemroad Ditta, Maersk Jalan and APL New York sailed out to sea on Monday morning and two more ships, oil tanker 'Ploutos' and Bulk cargo carrier 'Caravos Liberty' are expected to sail from FOTCO and PIBT on same day (today) in the afternoon.

A cargo volume of 203,172 tonnes, comprising 145,279 tonnes imports cargo and 57,893 tonnes export cargo, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 5,023 Containers (1,976 TEUs Imports and 3,047 TEUs export), was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are twenty four ships currently at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim and waiting for berths, out of them, seven ships, PPS Salmon, Glen Canyon, MSC Clea, Sloman Hera, Silver Entalina, Gulf Mews and Red Cosmos & three more ships, Stamford Eagle, BBG Confidence and Seago Piraeus scheduled to load/offload Cement, Containers, Palm oil, Gas oil, Chemicals and Coal are expected to take berths at MW-2, QICT, LCT, FOTCO, EVTL, MW-4, PIBT and PQEPT respectively on Monday (today), 6th September, while three more ships, MSC Giulia, Maersk Selector and Maran Gas with Containers and Natural gas are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, 7th September-2021.
