The 66thanniversary of Independence Day of Pakistan was commemorated with traditional enthusiasm and zest at Pakistan High Commission in Malaysia in a simple but impressive ceremony attended by a large number of Pakistanis living in Malaysia, says a press release.
The celebrations started with the hoisting of the National Flag by the High Commissioner for Pakistan to Malaysia, Masood Khalid amid the mellifluous tunes of the National Anthem. The messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read out by Deputy Head of Mission Dr Ali Ahmed Arain.
Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner Masood Khalid highlighted the significance of the day which heralded the dawn of freedom for the Muslims of the subcontinent following a drawn-out political and constitutional struggle spearheaded by Founder of the Nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah 65 years ago. "Jinnah had envisioned an egalitarian society in a democratic and progressive Pakistan for its people to lead their lives in accordance with their religious values, culture and traditions," he said.
Khalid also used the occasion to underline a variety of challenges faced by the country which had been turned, of late, into a competing ground by the forces of militancy and extremism. "But it is a matter of solace that our brave armed forces have been able to stamp out these elements and their remnants are already on the run," he said, adding the people of Pakistan could face down any threat through unity and determination. "We are a brave nation with guts to vanquish any force trying to cast an evil eye on our hard-earned freedom."
Later, a group of Pakistani students from local universities presented national songs and entertained the audience with beautiful skits and tableau highlighting the spirit of the day. The ceremony ended with distribution of merit certificates among high achievers in the Pakistani community.
In India: The officers, staff, and their families in the Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi (India) celebrated the 66thIndependence Day of their motherland with traditional fervour and zeal. The day started with morning prayers at the Pakistan High Commission's mosque for the prosperity of the country and well being of the nation, says a press release received here today from New Delhi.
An impressive flag hoisting ceremony was held in the High Commission premises. Salman Bashir, High Commissioner of Pakistan to India, raised the Pakistani flag to the tune of national anthem. The flag hoisting was followed by reading out of the messages of the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan by Babar Amin, Deputy High Commissioner, and Manzoor Ali Memon, Press Attaché, respectively.
While speaking on the occasion Salman Bashir, High Commissioner of Pakistan congratulated Pakistani community in India on the Independence Day and underscored the determination of each and every Pakistani where ever he may be to hold high the national flag. The students of the School of the High Commission sang the national songs and presented tableau in national and regional attire.
Later, Mrs Taranum Bashir, wife of the High Commissioner, distributed prizes and gifts amongst the participating children. In Japan: The 66th Pakistan's Independence Day was celebrated in Japan with usual fervour and enthusiasm. The day started with the flag hoisting ceremony that was attended by a large number of Pakistanis living in Japan and embassy officials.
The Ambassador of Pakistan, Noor Muhammad Jadmani performed the ceremony and in his message to the community impressed upon them on the need for unity in their ranks and working with their Japanese friends in promoting Pakistani culture, history, traditions and economic potential. The ambassador in his message said that friendly diplomatic relations between Japan and Pakistan have completed 60 years of friendship which encompassed business, trade and culture. He expressed his hope that these relations will be sustained and further strengthened in the coming days, says a press release received here.
The Ambassador read out Independence Day Messages of the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf. On this occasion leading English language newspapers of Japan, The Japan Times and The Daily Yomiuri, brought out special supplements in their issues of 14th August 2012. The Supplement also carried message by Seishiro Eto, Vice Speaker of Japan House of Representatives and President Japan-Pakistan Parliamentarians' Friendship League as well as by Teruo Asada, President, Marubini Corporation and Chairman Japan-Pakistan Business Co-operation Committee.
Seishiro Eto, in his message said that for the people of Japan, Pakistan is a country of their dreams. He expressed his thanks for the help and assistance extended by the Pakistani government and the community in the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. He hoped that starting from this anniversary year, new chapters will continue to be added to the history of our countries and our bilateral relationship by further stimulating exchanges in a wide range of areas including culture, academic fields and sports. He said that all efforts would be made towards further fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
Teruo Asada in his message said that Japanese and foreign companies have high expectations for Pakistan because of its geostrategic location and tremendous strengths in human resource, agriculture, energy and other sectors. He said that in future these strengths will contribute to the economies of both the countries. In Hong Kong: The 66th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with national fervour and enthusiasm here at the premises of the Pakistan Association of Hong Kong, Kowloon Island, in a simple but impressive ceremony attended by a large number of Pakistani community, says a press release.
The function commenced with hoisting of the National Flag by the Consul General of Pakistan, Hong Kong Dr Ahmad Balal to the accompaniment of national anthem. The messages of President and the Prime Minister were read out by him on this auspicious occasion. He said that Pakistan is the 6th largest nation in the world and has a bright future which is evident from our bright future generations whose academic achievements of the map of the earth are proof of our human resource potential.
The Consul General also congratulated the Pakistani community settled in Hong Kong on the occasion of the Independence day. In China: Pakistan's 66th Independence Day was celebrated at the Embassy of Pakistan here with traditional zeal and solemnity, says a press release.
