The national flag was unfurled at MQM's headquarters, also known as Nine-Zero, commemorating the 66th anniversary of the country's Independence Day. Special prayers were offered for national security, stability and integrity. Deputy Convenor of Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) Co-ordination Committee Dr Farooq Sattar and member Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari raised the flag on the mast.
Other members of the Co-ordination Committee, MNAs, MPAs and office-bearers of MQM's various wings also attended the ceremony. Prayers were also offered for the martyrs of the Pakistan Movement and soldiers who were killed in the fight against terrorism.
