Political stability is one of the most important pre-requisites for economic growth and development in the prevalent global scenario rife with all sorts of challenges, fiscal atop. Chief Executive "Scholars Club" Sheharyar Ali Malik stated this while chairing a roundtable conference "Solid Political Stability Must for Sound Economy" here on Sunday.
He said the country was facing a series of challenges and a stable democracy coupled with healthy economic growth was vital for the wellbeing of its future generations. He urged top leadership of all the political parties to help strengthen the democratic system in the larger national interest. He urged political leaders to shun their differences, adding that political stability was most essential for economic development and restoring confidence of foreign and local investors. "It's high time that mainstream political parties in power as well as those constituting the opposition must demonstrate the highest degree of responsibility, tolerance and decent democratic norms", he said while adding that politics of confrontation and agitation must be avoided. He said that if international level disputes could be settled through negotiations and parleys then "our political issues can also be solved amicably".
