Jamaat-i-Islami, Ameer, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that the government hasty decision to restore Nato supplies had helped the US and its allies to strengthen their position at a time when they were fleeing from the area. He was commenting on the statement of US officials that they were ready to hand over the control of three Afghanistan provinces to the Taliban but the talk was not getting headway.
He said Islamabad decision to restore Nato supplies had given a new life to the dead horse of the US and Nato. The US had been preparing to flee from Afghanistan after a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Taliban when Pakistan government reopened the supplies in total disregard of the national interests and the parliament resolutions.
It was ironical, he said, that while the US itself was holding talks with the Taliban, it was pressurising Islamabad for an operation against the Taliban but the US slaves ruling this country did not have the courage to question their master for the dual policy. The rulers were not prepared to pull out of the US war on terror even after losing 40,000 lives of innocent people and financial losses to the tune of 98 billion dollars, he added. Even the daily drone attacks killing many people failed to arouse the national spirit of the rulers, he added.
