The Defence Day of Pakistan was celebrated at the Pakistan Embassy here on Thursday. High-level officers of Chinese PLA, belonging to all the three armed forces, ambassadors of the United States, Nepal and Sri Lanka, defence attaches and diplomats from several countries attended the reception hosted by Ambassador Masood Khan and Defence Attache Brigadier Faheem ul Aziz.
Lieutenant General Wang Yongsheng, President of the Chinese National Defence University, was chief guest on this occasion. The distinguished guests praised the professionalism of the armed forces of Pakistan. Ambassador Masood Khan said Pakistan-China defence relations were the backbone of their bilateral and strategic relations. "Pakistan is committed to peace and security in the region. Preparedness is equally important," he said.
The Ambassador said the leadership of both the countries was committed to further strengthening the defence co-operation between the two countries. Ambassador Masood Khan and Lieutenant General Wang Yongsheng cut the cake. National anthems of Pakistan and China were also played on the occasion.
