Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) in collaboration with Cambridge Common-wealth Trust UK has awarded scholarship to five Pakistani students to undertake research projects on issues directly related to Pakistani society in Cambridge University United Kingdom (UK).
Information collected from the HEC here on Thursday revealed that at least five students were being awarded scholarships to acquire doctorate degrees from Cambridge University UK (one of the world's best university) and undertake research on the issues directly related to Pakistani society. The scholarship programme covers university tuition fee, boarding and lodging and airfare. So far, the scholarships have been awarded to Pakistani students in development studies, engineering, economics, financial management and other fields.
The HEC organised a send-off ceremony for five Pakistani students, who are proceeding to Cambridge University UK to acquire higher education. Deputy Chairman Planning Commission of Pakistan Dr Nadeem-ul-Haq, while addressing to the scholars and participants of the ceremony, said the HEC was playing an important role in higher education sector and government should continue supporting HEC for the promotion of higher education in Pakistan. Deputy British Commissioner to Pakistan Alison Blake said the programme would be greatly helpful in strengthening bilateral relationship between the two countries especially in higher education.
She hoped that the selected scholars would contribute for the betterment of the society. Director Cambridge Commonwealth Trust UK, Michael O'Sullivan said the scholarship programme would provide an opportunity to Pakistani scholars to interact with the youth belonging to various parts of the world.
