The Karachi Fish Harbour Authority (KFHA) on Monday imposed a three-day ban on the sea voyaging fishing boats after the meteorological department forecast widespread rain/thundershower, officials said. "KFHA has announced a three-day ban to restrict fishing boats from going to deep-sea after the met office forecast heavy rain at coastal areas of the province," the officials added.
They further said that the ban would be across the province and no fishing boat would be given permission to cross the navigational channel in the next three days. "Permits will not be issued to any voyaging boat during the bad weather," they added. According to the met office forecast, heavy monsoon rain is expected in Sindh and Balochistan on Tuesday. It has advised all the concerned authorities to remain alert during the next 24 hours to meet any emergency situation. According to the weather advisory, well-marked low pressure area is now located over Sindh. The weather system is likely to begin weakening on Tuesday.
It further says under the influence of the weather system, there is a possibility widespread rain coupled with isolated heavy falls in Sindh and eastern parts of Balochistan. It said strong monsoon currents are continuously penetrating in southern parts of the country, particularly Sindh and eastern Balochistan. The office warned that the rain may trigger more floods (urban and flash) in the vulnerable areas.
Balochistan is likely to receive widespread rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls in its eastern parts on Tuesday. It warned that heavy rain may trigger flash floods in Quetta, Zhob, Sibbi, Kalat and Nasirabad divisions. In Islamabad and Punjab, there is a forecast of scattered rain/thundershowers (with isolated heavy falls in south-west Punjab) on Tuesday. The office said heavy rain may cause more flash floods in the vulnerable areas of D.G. Khan division. Isolated rain/thundershowers are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Tuesday. In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, isolated rain/thundershowers are expected on Tuesday.
