The Lahore High Court here on Monday sought reply from Ministry of Religious Affairs in a petition challenging removal of names of volunteers appointed for provision of services and assistance to Pakistani pilgrims at Saudi Arabia. The petitioners through their counsel submitted that the ministry had appointed 230 persons as Khudaam-e-Hujjaj and issued the list of their names.
But, many of the names had been included in the list on favouritism basis replacing the names of petitioners. The petitioners termed the removal of names as a discriminatory act of the ministry and prayed the court to declare the new list as null and void. The court after hearing the petitioners' counsel at length directed the ministry to submit reply within one week.
