President of Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari, President of the Press Gallery Shahzad Malik and a large number of journalists were present on the occasion. Members of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly, led by former Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, expressed solidarity with the journalists during their protest.
Food Minister Nadeem Kamran who twice came to journalists during protest, affirmed the journalists that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif also promised to pay heed to journalists' demands. During the session that was held on the requisition of the opposition, two resolutions, one by MPA Chaudhry Zaheeruddin and the other one tabled by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, were passed.
The first resolution strongly criticised attempts by certain foreign elements trying to disgrace Muslims. The Resolution lamented recent release of a movie that tarnished the image of the Prophet of Islam. The other resolution, the assembly members expressed sympathies with persons who lost their lives during massive fires in Karachi and Lahore a few days ago. The House was later adjourned indefinitely after some members of the assembly pointed out lack of quorum.
