Capacity-building: EU to provide 60 million euro assistance to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance Mohammad Humayun Khan has said that the European Union (EU) will provide an assistance of 60 million euro for the capacity building of the officials and departments. He said that the assistance will not only help complete the schemes of public welfare but it would also enhance the capacity of the government officials adding that it was a manifestation of confidence over the provincial government.
He was talking to a team of experts from export policy management on Monday. The Finance Minister was briefed in detail about the salient features of the European Union Project "Technical Co-operation Assistance on Public Financial Management to the selected district of Malakand Division, KP".
It may be mentioned here that the project will start functioning on first October 2012 and during the first year of its operation will focus on building the capacity of the district administration to pave way for the greater budgetary support from EU during budget 2013-14.
The focus will be on front lines service delivery sectors of health, education and community driven local government. The Finance Minister endorsed the concept and appreciated the continuous support from the development partners of the province on its reform agenda. He hoped that on the completion of the project, it will help address the public grievances at local level particularly in the sector of health and education, for which he added, the government was already utilising all its capabilities and financial resources.
