Jennifer Lawrence defends nudity in ‘Red Sparrow’
Jennifer Lawrence's latest release ‘Red Sparrow’ is being criticized due to the explicit content in the movie, as quite a few viewers feel that the scenes were added just to boost box office sales.
Despite the backlash, Lawrence said she fully embraced her nude scenes in the film. She told Entertainment Tonight, “Everybody made me feel so comfortable that I probably at a certain point started making everybody else uncomfortable. Because I'd be like ‘I don't want the robe. I’m hot. I’m eating’. Everybody's like, ‘she needs to cover up’”.
Much has been made of Lawrence’s nude scenes in the upcoming movie, which follows the actress as she portrays Dominika Egorova, a former ballerina who is involuntarily drafted into the Russian secret service to act as a seductress.

Lawrence herself has defended the scenes and said that initially the idea was scary but later they were empowering for her. “It was really scary to say yes to the movie because I knew the only way to tell the story is if I agreed to really do the scenes and go full monty. It took a while to say yes and the night before, I didn’t sleep at all and I was obviously really nervous because it is the actual nightmare of standing in front of a classroom naked. But then, after I finished the scene, I felt empowered,” foreign media quoted her.
While some of the film critics slammed the actress for doing racy scenes, others praised her performance in the movie calling it ‘elegantly tense and absorbing to the last minute’.
‘Red Sparrow’, which is directed by Francis Lawrence of ‘The Hunger Games’, has just hit theatres worldwide.
