Nothing more important than motherland: COAS Asim Munir

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir said on Saturday that nothing was more important to the armed forces of Pakistan “than the concerns of the motherland”.

Speaking at the passing out ceremony at the Pakistan Military Academy, he said “the public of Pakistan is its biggest support and our loyalties are with the nation”.

Nothing is more sacred than the well-being, safety and security of Pakistanis, he added.

“Our efforts for peace should not be considered our weakness,” he said. “We will make all-out sacrifices for our nation. The army is ready to fulfil this responsibility at all times.”

“Go out now, and deliver to the expectations of your nation,” he told the graduating candidates.

“The army imbibes the vision of our great Quaid signifying no distinction of caste, color, creed, gender or geography.”

Vowing to eliminate terrorism in the country, he said, “there is absolutely no space for them”.

Turning to ongoing crises in the country, General Asim Munir said significant effort is being made by the adversaries to affect state and societal cohesion through multiple efforts.

“There is a dire need to identify the exposed and hidden enemies. In this regard, there must be a difference between reality and deception.”

General Asim said that the country’s enemies are hell-bent on driving a wedge between its people and the armed forces, and added: “We will ensure that the bond between Armed Forces and People of Pakistan is preserved and further solidified.”

Is this the same motherland that lacks law and order? Is this the same motherland that fails to give its citizens the very basics of needs? Is this the same motherland where the nationalistic fools will parade the nuclear armament but fail to see the irony that the people live in darkness? Is this the same motherland where the uniformed folks foundation is heavily subsidized by the tax payer (a for profit organization) in direct competition with the people? Is this the same motherland where people lack natural gas in their homes (which has been extensively abused and wasted over the years) but the informed folk making fertilizer get it at 13% of the economic value? Is this the same motherland that has gotten more intolerant as each year passes? Is this the same mother land where people are more divided than they ever? Along the lines of race, religion, within religion, spoken language, national identities? Sounds quite jarring.

Yes, loyalty is with the nation which is why the first thing they do is leave the country as soon as they’re out of office. Nothing speaks loyalty and sacrifice like getting the heck out of here.

Same emotional recipe of fear & control by number one company. If youth of Pakistan falls in to, no surprise next 75 years will be no different than failed past 75 years.

If Gen. Munir is serious, he should stop the political interference of the army. Otherwise, please spare us the hollow statements.
