Rain washes out Karachi-Multan PSL showdown
Crowd at Sharjah stadium was left frustrated when umpires called off the highly anticipated match between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans as intermittent rain repeatedly thwarted attempts to start the match on Friday.
Karachi Kings had won the toss and elected to bat first against Multan Sultans in the 11th game of Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The Kings would be eyeing to continue their winning spree. The change of heads at the top is doing wonders for the Kings as the newly appointed skipper Imad Wasim seems to be finding the way to foil the opposition plans.
They won their last encounter against arch-rivals Lahore Qalandars in an emphatic fashion, after the Qalandars were dismissed for 132 runs, thanks to top bowling performance by Usman Shinwari, who has returned just after sustaining a back injury, and veteran Shahid Afridi. The duo picked three wickets each.
Meanwhile, the newest addition to PSL the Multan Sultans started their PSL campaign on a winning note, beating Peshawar Zalmi in the opener and then Lahore Qalandars in their second match.
However, the side suffered a loss in their third encounter against Islamabad United, after they were restricted to a below par score of 113 runs, owing to impressive bowling display from Rumman Raees and Mohammad Sami, beating Sultans by five wickets.
