LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday expressed its displeasure over the non-production of Khadija Shah, a granddaughter of former army chief Asif Nawaz Janjua, before the trial court despite expiry of her judicial remand in a case of attack on corpus commander house and directed the police to produce Khadija Shah on Friday (today).
The bench was hearing a petition of father of Khadija Shah.
Earlier, SSP Investigation submitted a report and told the court that Khadija Shah was not produced before the trial court as her identification parade had not been conducted.
The bench, however, expressed its dissatisfaction over the police report.
She said the trial court extended her judicial remand till June 2 to complete the identification process.
The bench observed how the police obtained further judicial remand without producing the woman before the trial court.
The petitioners’ counsel contended that the police had obtained the custody of Khadija Shah from the trial court till May 30 and shifted her to jail for her identification parade. However, he said, the police did not produce her before the trial court despite the expiry of the judicial remand.
He said Khadija Shah had been kept in Kot Lakhpat jail and neither her family nor the legal team were allowed to visit her.
Meanwhile another single bench disposed of a petition of Salman Shah seeking details of cases against him and his family members.
The bench resumed hearing on a petition of Khadija Shah and a law officer filed a report on behalf of the CCPO Lahore.
The report said the petitioner, his brother Syed Jarar Ali Shah and son-in-law Jahanzeb Amin were not nominated in any criminal case.
However, it said, the petitioner’s daughter, Khadija Shah, had been arrested on May 23 in a case of attacking the Corpus Commander, and sent to judicial lockup for identification parade.
A female associate of appeared before the court and sought adjournment saying the senior counsel was out of country.
The court showed its annoyance over the counsel for skipping his appearance without a prior intimation.
The court imposed a fine of Rs 3000 on the counsel and directed his female associate to deposit the amount with the dispensary of the bar.
However, the court later withdrew the fine and disposed of the petition in light of the police report.
