'Containers around Red Zone in Capital not being removed'

In the wake of violent protests against a sacrilegious film, the district administration has decided not to remove the metal containers placed around the Red Zone for the next few days in a bid to preclude the possibility of any untoward incident in the Diplomatic Enclave.
"Security will remain on high alert in the city and the containers and barbed wire (barricades) placed by law-enforcement agencies before protest demonstrations against the anti-Islam movie will remain in the Red Zone for the next few days," a senior official said. He said that the Ministry of Interior has directed the Inspector General of Police, Bani Amin, to intensify security in the federal capital, besides completely banning all protests and other public gatherings inside the Red Zone. The official said that the Interior Minster also directed the IGP to strictly enforce Section 144 in the city. "Violators of Section 144 and those who carry weapons will be charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act," he said.
He said that the IGP has directed all Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Station House Officer (SHOs) to undertake effective patrolling in their areas. They had also been asked to carry out a thorough checking of hotels, motels and guest houses and keep a close eye on all suspects," he said. The official said that the IGP also ordered strict checking of vehicles across the city as well as on all exit and entry points of the federal capital.
