Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that the Punjab government has issued clear instructions to the concerned officers to ensure strict legal action against those involved in production and sale substandard pesticides.
He stated this while addressing balloting ceremony of Green Tractor Scheme among 301 farmers of DG Khan district, under the Punjab government's Green Tractor Scheme today. Talking to the media representatives, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered preparation of a master plan to safeguard the districts of DG Khan and Rajanpur against the devastation of flood. He said that a committee has been formed under the directives of Punjab government, which is investigating as to why the flow of water into the canals was not stopped despite prior information, besides why unnecessary breaches were made. He said the old system would be restored in order to give safe passage to hill torrents.
Answering a question, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that the flood water contains so much slit that dams constructed with billion of rupees can be completely destroyed within two years, therefore experts of Punjab government are reviewing various suggestions as to how hill torrents can be made more secure. He said that flood water enters into DG Khan and Rajanpur from Balochistan and the government does not have any instrument to check the pace and volume of flood water. He said that before current flood, flood water to the tune of 197,000 cusec had never entered into the area. Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that survey of flood affected crops and houses would be completed within a period of a week. MPA Sardar Fateh Muhammad Buzdar, DCO Iftikhar Ali Sahu and other concerned officers and farmers were also present.
