The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has crossed yet another key milestone as it announced the formal launch of National Cash Remittance Programme to facilitate overseas Pakistanis in disbursing foreign remittances/cash to their loved ones back home. Pakistan now, more than 117 NADRA Registration Centres, can receive foreign remittance sent by their relatives living abroad.
Launching ceremony of the joint venture between NADRA and H&H Exchange Co was held at NADRA Headquarters, Islamabad. This project will enable NADRA centres to process inward home remittances from abroad for the general public using smart national identity cards.
"ID card is no more just an identity document, it is about entitlements", said Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik while promising that NADRA intends to roll out citizen centric smart e Government programmes. "People across Pakistan now can simply walk into NADRA centres and get their remitted money at designated network of NADRA outlets," said the chairman, while also expressing his resolve to further promote the facility to the remaining Registration Centres where the system isn't currently available by this year-end.
The chairman added that NADRA, through its services, has once again lived up to the nation's expectations as a pioneer in e-commerce solutions, facilitating wide segment of public, especially from rural areas to engage in financial transactions at their door step. 'We are fulfilling the government's objective to promote & enhance the outreach to un-banked and less-privileged members of our community,' he added. It is worth adding that NADRA has already designed an automated system for financial institutions and telecom operators for branch-less banking with currency transactions of e-Sahulat touch points acting as a hallmark of technological innovation.
NADRA's services have assisted commercial banks to extend branch-less banking concept without incurring additional expense on infrastructure as well as operational costs, thus creating a win-win situation for all stakeholders. Chairman H&H Exchange, Haji Haroon said NADRA is an eminent public sector organisation, which has built its repute as a sound and dependable entity by undertaking a number of successful projects aimed at empowering the citizens of the country.-PR
