SNGPL dismantles illegal gas network in Mardan during crackdown on power thieves
ISLAMABAD: The Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) has unearthed, on Thursday, an illegal gas network in Mardan, Lahore’s farmhouse’s illegal connection, and disconnected in the ongoing crackdown.
As part of the ongoing crackdown against gas theft, the SNGPL disconnected another 241 gas connections in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad while booking Rs2.7 million on account of gas theft.
In a major raid, the SNGPL’s regional team unearthed a five-kilometre illegal gas network in Mardan which was immediately disconnected. In another raid, Lahore’s regional team caught an illegal gas connection at a farmhouse at Bedian Road.
The UFG Task Force in a raid, disconnected domestic connections for using it for commercial purposes in Lahore. In Peshawar, the company disconnected 30 connections on account of direct use of gas and illegal connections, while booking more than 1.4 million rupees on account of gas theft.
In Rawalpindi, the regional team disconnected 11 gas connections while booking Rs277,000 on gas theft. The SNGPL’s team in Mardan disconnected 20 gas connections for illegal use of gas. An amount of Rs360,000 was also booked on gas theft.
In Sialkot, the company disconnected 21 connections for using compressor. Two gas connections were disconnected in Sargodha on meter tampering while another 11 connections were disconnected on account of illegal use of gas in Sargodha.
The regional team in Gujranwala disconnected 10 connections on illegal use of gas while another nine connections were disconnected for using compressors. The team booked Rs150,693 against gas theft while also lodging two FIRs.
In Gujrat, the SNGPL disconnected seven connections on illegal use of gas while another two on use of compressor. The company disconnected six connections on direct use of gas and illegal extension in Islamabad. In Sahiwal, five meters were disconnected on illegal extensions and meter tampering while an amount of Rs20,460 was booked on account of gas theft.
The regional team in Faisalabad disconnected 17 connections for gas theft while another six for use of compressors. The region also booked Rs140,000 against gas theft.
In Lahore, a total of 13 connections were disconnected by the regional team. In Bahawalpur, the regional team disconnected 22 connections on use of compressor while another three on illegal extensions.
The company also booked Rs330,000 on gas theft. The company disconnected 16 connections on illegal use of gas while 11 connections were disconnected on use of compressor in Multan. In Sheikhupura, 15 connections were disconnected on illegal use of gas and two meters were disconnected on use of compressor.
