The Netherlands, has, reportedly, deported eight Pakistani workers hired by a Karachi-based firm to build the Pakistan Pavilion at Florida Expo 2012 after authorities found their claims to be fake. Earlier reports suggested that the Netherlands Police are facilitating eight Pakistani workers after their Pakistani employer hoodwinked them as well as Dutch authorities regarding payment of their salaries.
"They have broken their contracts with us and they have broken the law in Holland and that they were cooking up all sorts of false stories," said Abdul Wahid, Far East Oriental Trading Company's Chief in conversation with Business Recorder.
Earlier, an official of Pakistan embassy in Holland informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad that the Pakistani workers continued to camp outside the office of Florida Expo management in protest against a Karachi-based businessman who had deceived them and didn't pay them their legally mandated wages for six months.
"After a thorough investigation by Dutch authorities, claims of the eight Pakistani staff were found to be fraudulent, frivolous, concocted...they were all deported to Pakistan on October 03, 2012," said Wahid. According to him, with the utilisation of Dutch staff, Pakistan Pavilion's operations were continuing with immense success and are being highly appreciated by visitors from all over the world.
