Federal Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin on Sunday inaugurated the three-day hand-knotted carpets show at Expo Centre. Over 50 national carpet manufacturers have displayed their products in the show.
The mega exhibition has been arranged by Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to provide an excellent opportunity of connecting in the areas of interest and promote export of hand-knotted carpets.
The organisers expect that a large number of buyers from across the world would visit the exhibition.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Shahabuddin said that despite several hurdles and difficulties like load-shedding etc Pakistan's carpet industry had maintained its high standard and contributed significantly to the export earnings.
He said that the present government had always helped the textile and industrial goods manufactures to organise such types of exhibitions to showcase Pakistani products and attract foreign buyers. "These fairs are the key to exhibit the untapped potentials of Pakistan and to introduce Pakistan's products in the world market," he added.
