KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 130,536 tonnes of cargo comprising 43,218 tonnes of import cargo and 87,318 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.
The total import cargo of 43,218 comprised of 17,756 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 4,889 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 1,141 tonnes of Chick Peas, 6,191 tonnes of Dap, 1,472 tonnes of Rapeseed & 8,000 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.
The total export Cargo of 87,317 comprised of 69,257 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 100 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 1,561 tonnes of Cement & 16,400 tonnes of Clinkers. Nearly, 6355 containers comprising of 4636 containers import and 1719 containers export were handled on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 327 of 20’s and 416 of 40’s loaded while 192 of 20’s and 184 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1641 of 20’s and 1259 of 40’s loaded containers while 245 of 20’s and 116 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
As many as 07 ships, namely Safeen Prize, Sukhoor Alkhaleej, Ever Sigma, Eider, MT Mardan, Al Amal and Independent Spirit berthed at Karachi Port Trust.
Around 06 ships namely, Aurora Sb, Safeen Prize, Olympia, Jin Heng, Cma Cgm Figarto and Cma Cgm Columba Sailed off from Karachi Port Trust.
PORT QASIM
A total of nine ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them an edible oil carrier ‘Corona’ left the port ontoday morning, while three more ships, MSC Brooklyn, MSC Mumbai-VIII and Sea Power-I are expected to sail on today afternoon.
A cargo volume of 105,668 tonnes, comprising 76,972 tonnes imports cargo and 28,696 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 3,230 Containers (1,752 TEUs Imports and 1,498 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
There are seven ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them an edible oil carrier ‘Ardmore Chippewa’ &four more ships, Maersk Detroit, MSC Yukta-X, Leader and Sinar Malahayati carrying Palm oil, Containers, Gas oil and LPG are expected to take berths at LCT, QICT, FOTCO and EVTL respectively on Tuesday, 24th October, 2023.
