Sudan asked Norway on Wednesday to send home one of its diplomats, Khartoum's foreign ministry said, a day after Oslo ordered a Sudanese diplomat home over spying allegations. "Sudan's ministry of foreign affairs asked Norway's ambassador in Khartoum at a meeting today to send home one of his diplomats," ministry spokesman Al-Obeid Meruh said in a statement.
Norwegian ambassador Morten Aasland told AFP he could not immediately comment. Norway expelled a Sudanese diplomat on Tuesday, saying his activity was incompatible with his diplomatic status. The Scandinavian country's intelligence agency PST on Tuesday announced the arrest of a 38-year-old Sudanese man suspected of covertly gathering information on Sudanese refugees in Norway and transmitting it to someone at the embassy in Oslo. They did not specify the nature of the information gathered.
