Ukraine exported about 356,000 tonnes of grain, mostly wheat, in the week of October 1-7, analyst UkrAgroConsult said on Wednesday. The consultancy said in a report the volume included 343,000 tonnes of wheat, 6,000 tonnes of maize and 6,700 tonnes of peas.
Wheat was shipped to Egypt, Morocco and Kenya, maize to Tunisia and peas to France. It said an additional 1.3 million tonnes of grain, including 775,000 tonnes of wheat and 480,000 tonnes of maize were due to be exported in the near future. The Farm Ministry said this week that grain exports totalled 5.99 million tonnes so far this season, which runs from July to June. Traders exported 3.04 million tonnes of wheat, 1.5 million tonnes of maize and 1.3 million tonnes of barley, it said. Ukraine's government says farmers plan to harvest between 45 million and 46 million tonnes of grain this year against 56.7 million in 2011.
