FBR set to block mobile phones of non-filers

idiots believe this will help the economy, one should ask if they stop the consumption of your stupid services its a loss to economy, nothing more.

100 million mobile phone subscribers will start filing for taxes overnight or within a fortnight. That's a dream and FBR will have a rude awakening for such an anti-people shabang. Do I smell hybrid military state trying to incite people to please their foreign masters?

Has any legislation empowered FBR to block mobile phones of non-filers?

May Allah forbidden but our beloved country is heading towards civil war and disintegration. on one hand proven corrupt elites are declare innocent and on other hands government is punishing common people just for non filing. There is more than double tax on non filers . I am afraid if this non serious and anti ppl action by fbr which is most corrupt , inefficient institute than ppl at large will come out heavily on street . I don't know what establishment want to do with this country but it is enough and enough

FBR is a stupid organisation and completely failed to collect taxes from rich mafia. All government departments are focusing on poor and middle class peoples and mostly have a little income and falling in non-taxpayer class. The general public which do not fall in tax payer class, should be exempted from submitting such a stupid system.

Another sign of desperation. Dear we have to save the leaks in the economy and otherwise no one is willing to pay tax. Why would the people pay tax if they are sure that their money will be used to bring sharif family.

FBR should look into its ownself corruption and take pinituve action against their own corrupt bureaucrats.. These steps will backfire and will hurt the already dwindling economy of our country...Stop these nonsense counter productive steps and implement the already existing laws to recover billions of outstanding loans form the elites of the country.

FBR has the list of non-filers, they had this for many years now, but failed to proceed against them according to the law, why? This ridiculous step will not make them tax payers while more corrupt-fest will make money for FBR.

An ex-minister explained that a " non filer " does not mean the person " does not pay tax "..... it looks like this differentiation is deliberately being muddled to cover someone's incompetence in implementing financial/accounting procedures.

This is for registered tax payers - those who are either salaried or for some reason or the other got registered but didn't file tax. What about those who are tax evaders and not registered at all? Shouldn't there be stricter orders for them? I think FBR should send new year gift hampers to those who are not registered and don't pay a penny!

Q1: Can the FBR block mobile phones? Ans: No. Q2: How many active tax payers in Pakistan? Ans: Around 5 million in a country of 240 million. Good luck meeting IMF's revenue targets.

That's such a pathetic step, instead of recovering billions from the sharifs and zardaris and walis and molanas ....they are cracking down on those with no pennies in there pockets ..... Fbr is biting on its own flesh by doing this ..... It's a dictatorial measure .

Honestly has evaporated from the society into the thin air, that is the reason #1. You can't get your refund from FBR without a sweetener of 30% when it can be easily credited to taxpayers bank accounts.

What about those persons who are living as hand to mouth however they are using mobile phones or sim cards cause of needs now a days. In addition, which kind of strategy FBR is measuring to blocking the phone or Sim Card. I think firstly they must reveal the policy in public in order that public officials can examine or ascertain properly. Furthermore, according to my perception FBR don't have any authority to block the desired items. Please consider these questions to responsible officials in order that common and innocent citizens can enjoy the life at amiable manner.

In our beloved country, the landlords and businessmen despite earning billions are exempted from payment of Income Tax describing that the issue is Provincial matters. Unless otherwise, all wealthy pay Tax, little hope to generate sufficient tax to over come our foreign debt problems.

Such a stupid step.. FBR ... Think about a positive steps. More then 100 million mobile phone usesing in Pakistan. This is a direct hit of. Mobile phone companies. . Not a tax payers. Think positive.

Mobile sims are registered with spouses (not directly earning- their husband may be a filer), students and others. Moreover, utility connections are in the names who owned the house initially. Now many of them have sold the houses but the name is still appearing on utility bills. This will create a lot of problems both for sims and utility blockages. However, something shall be done to include non tax payers in the tax net. Therefore, I would suggest to initially block sims and utility connections of those who have done transactions of large amounts, bought cars or big cars, travelled outside countries etc but are not the tax payers. The data of such people must be available with FBR.
