YouTubers can now change video backgrounds without green screens
The famous video sharing company, YouTube, has incorporated artificial intelligence in its application, enabling users to change the background in YouTube videos, similar to how green screen does.
Engineers at YouTube’s parent company Google have created a novel tool that makes use of AI and machine learning technology for filtering out and replacing the video backgrounds similar to the function of a chroma wall.
The engineers describe the process as a mobile real-time video segmentation and according to Mashable, it is here to rise up our YouTube game. However, for now, the feature is only available in the limited beta stories in the YouTube app, a new service similar to Snapchat and Instagram’s stories.

Google announced the feature in its blog post in which it wrote, “Our new segmentation technology allows creators to replace and modify the background, effortlessly increasing videos’ production value without specialized equipment.”
Moreover, the organization did not yet state a precise timeline as to when will the feature be available for everyone. As per the blog post, Google explained that their immediate goals is to use the limited feature in YouTube stories for testing but, will further expand and integrate the segmentation to Google’s broader Augmented Reality services.
