Politicians, civil society and religious leadership should develop a consensus and declared the war against terrorism as our war. This was according to the resolution passed by the participants of the seminar organised by South Asian Free Media Association (Safma) on Monday to condemn the attack on child rights activist Malala Yousufzai.
Government should made arrangements for providing education to the children of Pakistan with support of the United Nations and peace loving nations of the world. Supporters of terrorist organisations and their supporters should bring to justice. Hatred material present in the syllabus of religious schools, colleges and universities should be removed. They also demanded an effective legislation from parliament against those who were involved in extremist activities.
The government or non-government support of terrorists should be stopped. They demanded that writ of the state should be established in every nook and corner of the country adding that this is the only way to stop drones. Speaking on the occasion General Secretary Safma Imtiaz Alam said that government should quit dual policies and adopt a clear cut policy regarding war on terror.
He also condemned dual standards of main stream political parties who failed to adopt a clear cut stand on terrorism. Director Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) I A Rehman said that Taliban are the products of the policies of past governments. "We made Taliban, we made suicide bombers, they attack Malala to harass our young generation," Rehman said.
He also said that target killing is more heinous then riots. Human Rights Activist Faryal Gohar said that Malala's eyes have clarity of vision and this vision is absent in our nation eyes in 65 years. She said that we have lost 40,000 lives and still we are debating that who is a good Muslim or who is bad. She said that her student Farida Afridi was killed by Taliban in Fata. She said that government should adopt practical steps to deweaponise the society.
PPP leader Fawad Chaudhry criticized the PML (N) and PTI leadership for not taking clear stand against the extremists. While, religious scholar, Allama Tahir Ashrafi, condemned the incident. He criticized Qazi Hussain Ahmed and other Ulmas for not taking clear stand on the issue. He also criticized government and leaders of main stream political leaders for taking strong stand on the incident. PML (N) leader Dr Saeed Elahi said that joint efforts should be needed to root out extremism from the country.
