Call for taking steps to reduce incidence of school dropouts

President Pakistan Association for Difficulties in Learning (PADIL) Ashba Kamran has urged the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to take steps for checking rising number of school dropouts in the province. She said the number of students who are facing with mental incapacities including Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia and Dysgraphia etc, runs into thousands.
According to her, independent surveys suggest that around 30 percent of the school going children fall to the category of school dropouts every year. These students find themselves unable to continue with mainstream education and finally quit their education in the middle. Such students direly need remedial education, which is not in place in our public sector schools, she pointed out. Ashba Kamran said all such students should be educated through Special Education Needs (SENs), as they require attention at the individual levels due to their mental handicaps.
