The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) demanded immediate arrest of killers of bar member Shakir Ali Rizvi. The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial also took suo motu notice of the murder and directed inspector general of Punjab police to submit a report within 24 hours.
The bar convened an emergency meeting to lodge protest against the gory incident. The murder of Shakir Rizvi sparked anger among the legal fraternity and they immediately abandoned their work and went on a strike. They boycotted court's proceedings and strongly condemned the gruesome murder of the senior lawyer. The bar constituted a committee comprising senior-members to monitor police investigation and also to cooperate with police in arresting the culprits.
