The Division-al Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo directed MD Wasa to put strict vigilance on the quality of water supply and ensure its regular lab testing to avoid waterborne diseases in the city. This he directed while presiding over a meeting regarding providing safe drinking water, and increasing its supply during the Eid-ul-Azha, held at his office today. The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Agha Shahnawaz Babar, MD Wasa Saleemuddin, Water Technologist Ahsan Siddique and other officer from line department attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad said that since waterborne disease Naegleria has been emerged in Karachi, it has become essential to put strict vigilance of the quality of water being supplied to citizens, and also to keep the people aware about adopting pre-cautionary measures. He directed the MD Wasa to conduct regular lab testing of water from its source to consumer end with the help and technical assistance of Water Technologist Dr Ahsan Siddique. He also directed him to ensure increase of water supply especially during the Eid-ul-Azha. He also directed the officers of H.M.C/Taluka Administrators to prepare a contingent plan for maintaining cleanliness and early disposal of wastage of sacrificial animals.
Meanwhile presiding over another meeting regarding providing facilities at Expo Centre Hyderabad, held at his office today, the Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo said that a scheme for having efficient sewerage system, to Hyderabad Expo centre is being implemented at the cost of R.35 million. He said that since foreign delegates are used to come to Expo Centre and since the Expo Centre is a symbolic place for image building of any nation, it is, therefore, all roads approaching to expo centre to be repaired and reconstructed, beautiful street lights would be installed and its secretariat would be strengthened and equipped with trained staff.
