KARACHI: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Shaikh had said that people participated in the My Karachi exhibition with enthusiasm, adding that joint efforts are needed to steer the country out of economic challenges.

He expressed this while addressing a news conference to mark the closing of 19th My Karachi - Oasis of Harmony Exhibition held at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Sunday.

He mentioned that whether it is politics or the economy, working as a team is essential for success. He emphasized that there is no doubt that Karachi is the business hub and has embraced people of all ethnicities.

Shaikh noted that past attempts to create divisions in Karachi had failed. He highlighted the potential in Pakistan and praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for working tirelessly, stating that Sharif is delivering.

Shaikh pointed out that there is a great potential for experts in Karachi, and that compared to other countries Pakistanis have more potential. He remarked that although there was talk of default, contrary to that, the stock exchange had increased by 90% in one year.

He stated that the world wants to make direct investments and that Karachi will be made a transshipment hub. He said that next month, they will sign a MoU with Denmark, and the government has given the green light.

He said that Jamaat-e-Islami has staged a sit-in and has also sought suggestions to resolve issues. He accepted that electricity is expensive and people are distressed.

Qaiser Shaikh highlighted that farmers in Balochistan have been provided with solar facilities.

He concluded by saying that they have abolished the sales tax on fisheries feed and seed.

Chairman of BMG Group, Zubair Motiwala, said that the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) organized the My Karachi exhibition.

He expressed happiness that the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs participated in the exhibition. He said the purpose of the exhibition is to highlight a better image of Karachi and the country to the world.

He noted that during the three days of the exhibition, 500,000 people visited, and seventeen countries participated.

On this occasion, President of KCCI, Iftikhar Ahmed Shaikh, said that the enthusiasm of the public at the exhibition was remarkable. He also mentioned that efforts were made to promote education. He mentioned that over 300 stalls were set up at the exhibition.
