The Karachi Port handled 87,372 tonnes of cargo comprising 52,181 tonnes of import cargo and 35,191 tonnes of export cargo including 3,980 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 52,181 tonnes comprised 22,927 tonnes of containerised cargo; 24,561 tonnes of general cargo; 3,749 tonnes of DAP and 944 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 35,191 tonnes comprised 25,301 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5 tonnes of general cargo; 1,435 tonnes of cement and 8,450 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,980 containers comprising 1,540 containers import and 2,440 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 562 of 20's and 452 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 37 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 726 of 20's and 331 of 40's loaded containers while 140 of 20's and 456 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Two ships namely Borneo Pioneer and King Fortune with one oil tanker and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Five vessels viz APL Brisbane, Ever Result, Bunga Lavender, Frontier Hachi and Dato Success with two container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely APL Brisbane, Ever Result, Bunga Lavender and Frontier Hachi with two container ships and two oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Tamina and Dato Success carrying one container ship and one general cargo ship respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
Nine vessels viz UASC Shuwaikh, Jolly, Lantau Arrow, Malhari, Ocean Lady, Chrisopigi Lady and Karadiniz power ships with three container ships, one chemicals carrier, one LSF oil tanker, one mogas ship, and three power ships respectively are due to arrive on Friday, while two vessels viz Cosco Tianjin and Al-Salam-II with one container ship and one HSD oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 89,499 tonnes comprising 67,480 tonnes of import cargo and 22,019 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,988 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 67,480 tonnes includes 25,272 tonnes of furnace oil; 13,200 tonnes of palm oil; 16,602 tonnes of canola seeds; 1,029 tonnes of ethylene and 11,376 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 22,019 tonnes includes 527 tonnes of rice and 21,429 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV CMA CGM Mozart and CV Nedlloyd Tasman and MT Global Peace with containers and edible oil sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while two more ships namely MT Olympic Spirit and MV King Coal with furnace oil and canola seeds sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.
A total number of ten vessels viz CV CMA CGM Verdi, CV CMA CGM Mozart, CV Nedlloyd Tasman, MT Cape Banks, MT Genuine Galaxy, Cape Banks, MT Global Peace, MT Igloo Hav and MV King Coal are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, canola seeds, palm oil, furnace oil, and ethyline respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely APL Atlanta and Inc Friendship with containers and rice respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Three vessels viz CV APL Atlanta, CV Lantau Arrow and CV Micheals with containers respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal respectively on Thursday.
