Small traders showed disappointment over the police's performance against the street crimes and extortionism in the city, saying the government seems indifferent to implement the Supreme Court of Pakistan's interim order to stem unrest. Talking to Business Recorder on Monday, All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI) Chairman Atiq Mir said the government was in no mood to solve the law and order problems and protect the traders.
"The SC had previously given orders to the government to restore peace to the city but results are before us very clearly," he said, adding the police was incapable of taking any action against outlaws. "There is no central authority to streamline issues in the country. The nation is being ruled without a proper responsible government. The continued law and order situation in the city have reduced the business activities phenomenally," he said.
"There are no new businesses taking place as the traders are too fragile to the unfavourable situation in the city, which continued to panic them for the last several years," he said. He showed displeasure over the continued violence at markets.
