A delegation of Pakistan People's Party-Parliamentarian leaders called on Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) former Justice Fakharuddin G Ebrahim at Election Commission of Pakistan Sindh office here on Monday. They raised the issue of allegations of the PPPP leader Syed Zaffar Ali Shah at their party in regard of by-polls at Naushahro Feroze. They assured CEC that code of conduct of the Election Commission would be fully implemented.
The delegation included General Secretary of PPP Sindh chapter Taj Haider, Federal Minister Maua Bux Chandio, and Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. They demanded CEC to order conduct of by-polls at Naushahro Feroze under the supervision of Rangers. After the meeting Taj Haider told media that they explained regarding the allegations of MNA Syed Zafar Ali Shah and assured the CEC that they would follow the code of conduct of Election Commission of Pakistan.
He said that allegations levelled against their party leadership were baseless. He said that their party considered it essential to explain allegations before CEC since it was a country-level party. Maula Bux Chandio criticised Syed Zaffar Ali Shah and urged him to resign from seat of National Assembly and party membership if he believed in principles. He maintained that general elections will be held on time and democratic government will complete its tenure, adding they would serve public if elected to power again.
Advocate G N Qureshi, representing PPP, told media that Taj Haider had filed complaint against MNA Syed Zaffar Ali Shah and Murtaza Jatoi of National Peoples Party who were trying to create impression that the impartiality of Election Commission has been maligned by the PPP. He said that Taj Haider has prayed to the election commission for conducting by-polls under the supervision of rangers.
